# Lappy v0.0.12 — usable brightness steps

The owner confirmed that v0.0.11 corrected brightness direction, but 20% is visually black on the delivered panel. v0.0.12 offers exactly **40% → 60% → 80% → 100% → 40%**, with 60% as the default.

Saved legacy percentages are normalized on load to the nearest supported level, with ties rounding up and values clamped to 40–100. An old 20% setting therefore starts at 40%; old 50% starts at 60%. Serial brightness commands accept only 40, 60, 80 or 100, and reject invalid/trailing input. The low-level 0% operation remains reserved for startup/shutdown blanking.

The v0.0.11 active-low PWM correction, persistent touch buffers and touch-bus timeout recovery are retained. No page layout or timing-engine behavior changes. The simulator uses the same four-step control and 60% default.

Validation: simulator tests exercise a complete cycle through the actual Settings button, reject the appearance of 20%, and verify legacy normalization for every stored byte value. Both ESP32 profiles build; the V2 device's legacy-setting migration and serial range checks are recorded in `HARDWARE_BENCH_v0.0.12.md`. V1 hardware and physical timing accuracy remain untested.
